Do dots in email addresses affect the contact-sharing process?
In personal Gmail accounts, dots don’t matter. For example, johnsmith@gmail.com, john.smith@gmail.com, and j.o.h.n.s.m.i.t.h@gmail.com are all treated as the same address, so dots have no effect on contact sharing.
However, in Google Workspace accounts that use a company domain, dots do matter. For instance, john.smith@mydomain.com and johnsmith@mydomain.com are considered two different accounts, which means dots can affect both email delivery and contact sharing. If you need the dots changed in a domain address, you’ll need to contact your administrator.
