How can I keep my active Outlook contacts and other data in sync with Google Workspace?
Use Google Workspace Sync for Microsoft Outlook (GWSMO) to keep Outlook (classic desktop) and Google Workspace in two-way sync for mail, calendar, contacts, tasks, and notes—perfect if you’ll keep using Outlook after moving to Google Workspace.
Pre-checks
-
You’re on a Windows PC using Outlook (classic desktop), not the new Outlook.
-
You have a Google Workspace (work/school) account.
-
Close Outlook before installing.
Set up GWSMO
-
Download and run the GWSMO installer on the PC where you use Outlook.
-
Sign in with your Google Workspace email, enter your password, complete any 2-Step Verification, and select Allow.
-
In the GWSMO window, choose Import data from an existing Outlook profile (or Exchange/PST), check Contacts (and Mail/Calendar if needed), then click Create profile.
-
Click Start Microsoft Outlook, select the new Google Workspace profile, and click OK.
-
Keep Outlook open; the first sync starts automatically (large mailboxes may take a while).
Note on sharing: GWSMO syncs your data only. To share contacts with teammates, use Shared Contacts Dashboard (share labels in Google Contacts).
